So, theophiles.org needs a tagline/slogan.

Sort of like christdot's "Christ. Period."

Let's gather some ideas and then have a vote!

Post 'em here if you've got 'em...

since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
We love because he first loved us.

wezlo   |2008-04-09 13:05:59
Yah, these are great quotes - but not sure they fit as a tag-line. Love the Francis David quote though...
metallurge  - Yep   |2008-04-09 13:10:20
That one stood out to me also.

And I agree, the requirements for a good tagline would probably exclude most of Entity's list. But I like the list as inspiration. Thanks for posting it, Entity!
Entity   |2008-04-09 13:16:41
That was actually my favorite as well. I didn't want to bias it by putting it first.

Unfortunately, the quote is by a Unitarian Universalist and Non-Trinitarian.
WebbedFeetOfClay  - ha!   |2008-04-09 15:48:41
A.D.I.D.A.&Theta

(though I'm really a fan of Love of God, Love of Neighbour, Love of News)
Entity   |2008-04-09 15:54:47
OK.

AD = Anno Domini
ID = Intelligent Design

What does AΘ stand for?
WebbedFeetOfClay   |2008-04-09 16:27:08
It's a play on A.D.I.D.A.S. which according to legend, stands for All day I dream about sex., but I've replaced the S with a &Theta so it's God (or Theophiles.org, or ADIDAS said with a lisp)
John  - A.D.I.D.A.S.   |2008-04-09 16:40:35
Also a Korn song...

or maybe just "In search of wisdom."
OrionBlastar  - How about these?   |2008-04-10 01:04:54
Theology, period.

"He loves you" (Ok maybe Marvel uses that for its Secret Invasion comic book and it is a play on John 3:16)

Theology Porn. (Not of naked people, but the best kind of porn that is not of naked human bodies but based on theology)

Theology Lovers.

Theology that even a non-Thesis can love.

Religion, period.

Praise the lord, pass the ammo, pay the lady. (I always wondered what PTL really stood for?)

What would Jesus blog? (WWJB)

Isn't that what Captain Ahab said to Moby Dick and Khan also repeated the quote to Captain Kirk?

It seems to be quite a stretch from

Which sounds like what Dolly Parton once said in a song: http://www.stlyrics.com/songs/d/dollyparton1225...
Straight from the heart.

Unless you were joking, in which case it is funny in a way.

Captain Kangaroo... Mr. Green Jeans. Classic.

Of course, I was but a wee boy. But I remember.
grizzly   |2008-04-11 00:22:26
Do you remember these Statler Brothers lyrics?

Counting flowers on the wall
That don't bother me at all
Playing solitaire till dawn with a deck of fifty-one
Smoking cigarettes and watching Captain Kangaroo
Now don't tell me I've nothing to do
grizzly   |2008-04-11 00:32:17
of course, today's youth may be more likely to recognize these:

we don't know what he did
but we're down with captain kidd
we don't wake up before lunch
but we all eat captain crunch
we don't smoke, we don't chew
we watch captain kangaroo

:)
Entity   |2008-04-11 09:33:35
I have that one on my jukebox. Eric Heatherly covered it in 2000 and more people may be familiar with that version.
grizzly   |2008-04-11 18:23:19
Yeah, I know that Eric Heatherly covered it. I've got a CD Single of it. Still, it's a cool song.

I was just brainstorming. I leave judgment to others.

Could be, though. But is it presumptuous to be intentional? We are intentional about something, aren't we? I see both sides. Who knows, like I said, I was just throwing it on the pile.
